These are a few of my favorite things.....

Since it's the holidays and because Connie mentioned my lovely decor, I thought I'd share some of my favorite ornaments. Now you may be aware of the fact that I collect penguins but I don't think you're prepared for just how serious this is. My ENTIRE tree is decorated with penguin ornaments. This is the one you can blame. He started the addiction... errr I mean.. collection. This little guy was the first one I ever got. It was sent by my grandparents when I was just a kid. Wow, he's almost as old as my last boyfriend. LOL!
This is funny. My cousin, Lisa, gave me this. She said she couldn't resist it because he looks Chinese. And he kinda does. So this is my Chinese penguin. That just cracks me up!
I love personalized stuff. Some people ask if I'm committed to Mia's name especially since I haven't even met her yet. I have to be ....because she already has things personalized for her. LOL! But seriously, that's her name regardless. I can't imagine her as anything else.
This one is actually a candle. His wick is what he hangs from the branch on. He's way too cute to burn though.
I love this frosted glass ball ornament. It was handpainted by the artist.
These were crocheted by my mom. There were 12 in the set she made. Half of them live on the tree and the other half live on a wreath which hangs on my front door. Hey Mom, do you remember what year you made these? I forget, but I've had them for a long time.
I love these clay dough ornaments. And of course, this one caught my eye since it looks like Momma and baby.
Another Momma and baby. This one joined the tree this year. I bought a dozen or so of these and gifted them to friends and my cousins. I knew that every time they looked at it they would think of me. And it would remind us of the Christmas that we were waiting for Mia. Hopefully, she'll be here next Christmas. ( Shut up Connie! I don't want to hear it. The wait will not get that long!! Let me live in my happy place....LOL!)
And this is my new favorite for obvious reasons. I plan to buy her an ornament every year. I sure hope she likes penguins as much as I do. What am I saying?! Of course, she will. How could she not?
Later I'll include some pics of all the decor, including the tree in all of it's penguin glory. Shannon wants to do a "Blogger Parade of Homes: Holiday Edition". Sounds like we're on a decorating TV show or something, doesn't it? So I think we're posting our pics around the 20th. I really do it up for the holidays. It's my favorite time of the year. So stay tuned.

Krista, you kill me. I may just have to send out a little something for your tree. The penguin - the Chinese one - just killed me. In a good way. You have quite the collection. Admirable - and very, very sweet.

Happy Holidays toyou - and to all of your penguin palz.

XO

wow, Krista I didn't know you collected penquins. Wow! They are so adorable! I went a few years back on the behind the scenes adventure of the Pequin Encounter at Sea World. You would love it! You go inside the Pequin Encounter, learn about their habitat and even feed them yourself and get to touch a few! You & Mia may be doing that before you know it! As a teacher I always tell people the money is so worth the 1-2 hour adventure! On a side note, WOW....I just got back from a trip and read the news about the CCAA & ban on Single Adoption. I cried! I have had 3 friends in the past adopt from China & I am working on a pregnancy now for myself & planned to adopt from China in 2 years, guess that won't be happening now if I am still single. sniff, sniff.

Ok, so I'm totally stealing your "buying Mia an ornament each year" idea! love your ornaments and the fact that they're PENGUINS! I'm sure you already know the Lyle Lovett song "Penguins"... If not, let me know and I'll send it to you!
