Cookie Making

I survived Christmas. Thanks for the kind words in the midst of my struggle. I'll post about the day tomorrow. Today is a re-cap of Operation Christmas Cookie '07. This year cookie making had to be split into a two day project. We got a late start to the baking and Carla had to work that night. So the frosting and decorating part happened a couple days later. As always the kids had a blast. But I think more frosting went into their mouths than on the cookies.
(Oh, while I'm thinking of it. Click here to hop over to my sister's blog. She did a really sweet post for Tatum's birthday including lots of pics of her as a baby. Check it out if you're so inclined. It's worth seeing.)

Notice that Tanner has decided he's far too cool this year to be seen in the apron.

Everyone got to roll out their own dough and cut their own cookies.
Even the little guy. But notice the adult supervision hovering behind him. LOL!
This random shot was taken while the cookies were in the oven. It's to document one of the few times in history when all four T's were sitting together quietly. They made this decision on their own with no prompting from the adults. Notice there is no crying, no one in a head lock, no bloodshed. Of course, they were distracted by whatever was on TV. But normally even the TV is not enough to subdue the mayhem. Absolutely amazing. A rare moment in this household to say the least.
Day Two of O.C.C. '07 involved the final (and some say best) phase of the project....the decorating.

Although someone couldn't understand the concept of putting it on the cookie and not in your mouth.
This is the "Huh? What are you talking about?" look. Nice try. But we can see the rainbow of frosting colors on your cheeks.
Trying unsuccessfully to hide the evidence.
The finished project.
Now this cookie is very special. Tatum is very creative. And so is her imagination. I was being silly and commenting on how abstract her design was. I asked her what the blue represented. And that's when the following story unfolded. Pay attention now. This is a true story as told by Tatum The blue squiggly icing represents "the river" and the straight line is "the bridge". The large blue blob in the middle is "a mountain". The pink sprinkles are "the pink humans". The multi colored sprinkles at the bottom are "the other humans and their houses". The green flower sprinkles are "Flower World" which apparently is an amusement park type place with "games and rides". The pink and white hearts is another amusement park called "Heart World". The purple sprinkles at the very top are "purple humans who are running for their lives from the volcano (black blob in the middle) cuz it just blowed up cuz the people were talking too loud and made it mad".
All that from a cookie, huh? Very interesting. Maybe she'll grow up to be a writer someday.

That's some story Tatum has for that cookie. I hope you didn't eat it, that would be tragic.

~We are Christmas cookie losers. Nobody baked a single cookie in this house. In fact, I forgot about the gingerbread house that is still in the box.

You have the best relationship with your nephews and niece! I love how you are always doing cool things with them. We are christmas cookie losers too! I bought the dough to make cut outs and then we never did them. (Big "L" on that one) I made some cute reindeer cookies and put them in a container so they wouldn't get stale.. yeah.. never ate them. :0(
You guys on the other hand did a GREAT job on decorating your cookies. Totally FUN!

I'm hoping all those hands were washed before you started?

Otherwise, I'll, um... pass on the Rhorshack inkblot cookies.

I'm going to have to adopt you as an aunt to my kid. I hate baking so I fear the holidays won't be as much fun at my house.
