Snow News

Last night the 11 o'clock news said we'd had about 6 inches so far. But it snowed all night. So I'd say we're probably about 8 or 9 inches at least. And it's still snowing.
At 10:30am, I heard the weatherman report that it's accumulating at about an inch an hour and will continue through the afternoon. This is my grill right outside the back door. I actually had to push the snow away from the door to get it open.
Griffey is not a happy camper right now. I had to shovel a path out into the grass so he could "take care of business" this morning. When I first opened the door, he went scampering out as he always does. But the snow was up to his chin so I made him come back in while I shoveled. When there's just a few inches on the ground, he likes to play in it. But today, he went and sat by the door insisting that I immediately let him back in. Look at him staring at the door like he's willing it to open. He was having no part of this crap.
The wind is what's so bad. The gusts are outrageous, causing huge drifts and white outs. It sounds really eerie outside. Like a spooky horror movie. It's blowing at my front door so bad that I had to take some drastic measures. I was sitting on the couch and kept feeling a breeze. Now I live in an older house with the original front door. So it's normally kinda drafty. But the wind gusts were literally blowing through every crack in the door.
Like my solution? I stuffed blankets down the edges with a butter knife. Funny, huh? Oh and check out the aluminum foil up there in the corner. Not only does it help block the signals from aliens.... you know, so they don't take over my thoughts.... but it also seals up cracks in doors. LOL!
I put plastic wrap over the outlet. Can you see how it's all billowed out? That's the freakin air blowing in. I've lived in this house for 11 years and I've never seen wind like this. It's crazy.
Griffey is a little unnerved by it all. He kept pacing in the kitchen last night and barking at the back door. That's so not like him. I think the wind was freakin him out. Today he's being really clingy. Usually he lays out in the hall while I'm on the computer. But as you can see, he's sticking close to me.
I'm just grateful this hit on a weekend. I have no obligation to leave the house until Monday. Although I'm pretty disappointed that I had to cancel my Saturday plans with Stacy, PIPO and Sandra. But now I'm all settled in. Got my jammies on, gonna catch up on blogs, watch some movies, maybe read a book or take a bubble bath. I'll be back later with more updates. So stay tuned.

Your weather sounds horrible. But at least you are safe from those aliens. I hate it when they read your thoughts too! :)

Remember I said I'd finish your curtains this weekend? Well...I'm stuck in TN, you should have been with me in AR this morning!!! It took me 10 hours to go 120 miles at 5 to 10 mph on 3 inch thick solid ice!!! WooHoo, the fun of driving a truck!!!

WTG, MacGyver!

It was windy down here today, too. I nearly lost my child a few times . . . I'm sure our wind was a wee bit warmer, though.

Will this winter ever end? Stay warm! Great problem solving on the draft situation, by the way.

I hope you survived the storm! I'm hoping spring comes soon...we've had the really cold temps but not too much snow so far.

Holy crap! Look at that snow! I'll try and send some of my sun your way - trust me, its so stinking hot, it'd all melt in seconds!!!

Enjoy your cozy weekend in (except for the shovelling snow for puppy-poops!!!)

And might I just add - you are a girl after my own heart, you can use a butter knife as a tool!!!

Holy Cannolies!

Poor Griffey - hold onto him or else he just might blow away when he lifts his leg to pee!

It is so weird how warm it is over here and how you have just been dumped on by snow. We finally got in the 50's and the snow has melted. We'll have to give Sean's folks a call in columbus to see how they are holding up.

Stay warm and insulated. And if you get so cold that you decide to actually tin foil yourself...I want to see a picture ;)
