Anyone who has ever lived in Ohio has heard of The Blizzard of '78 . If you actually click on that link, you'll see the snowfall total for my city after that was 12.2 inches. The news said last night that some parts of the city got up to 17 inches. But to be a true "blizzard" requires sustained winds over 35 mph consistently for at least 3 hours. The weather guy said that... that's not some useless bit of information that I already knew. And although we had crazy high wind, it was hit or miss all day long. So this snowstorm is just that..... a really bad "snowstorm". Sorry, no blizzard status this time. Even though it felt like one.
I tried to measure the drifts in my driveway. All I can say is that they're over 12 inches. My guess is about 14 at the highest parts. Crazy. But the sun is out today and the snow is already starting to melt where it's been shoveled. I did the part here at the end of my driveway back by my car. But then I'd had enough. It's back breaking work.
See how long the damn driveway is? So I recruited my 10 yr old neighbor kid. I'd say that's the best $20 bucks I ever spent! He did the entire front of the house, too. And dug my work car out which was buried out on the street.
So today I'm planning on just more hanging around the house. Gonna do some laundry and light housecleaning. And then plant myself back in front of the TV for awhile. Big Brother is on tonight!
I can't wait for my yard to look like this again. Just remind me of the snowstorm this summer when I start bitching about watering this stuff every night and weeding out the beds, okay?

Looks like that here...ugh.
Keep smilin!
I remember the Blizzard of '78....Although, I was QUITE young at the time....QUITE young!
I'm holding out for mother nature to clear my drive. It's flat so I'll just plow over the snow with the car in the meantime.
Looks like a blizzard to me. I remember the NY snow and the shoveling - definitely back breaking! Glad the sun is out :)
HOLY COW!!!!
That looks awful...
I would not want to be there..
Have a Great Week..
EEEEKKKK! I bet you are sick of snow!
I actually laughed when I saw 80% of the US 3 words - related to snow! And mine is about the heat!!! Ahhh - are we ever happy?!!!
I hope it starts to warm up soon!
I don't remember the blizzard of
'78...oh yeah, I wasn't born yet *snort...Lisa was 'quite young' & I wasn't born...yeah, that's it.
The snow is so white and pretty, I just can't understand what you are sick of. Change your attitude. Remember, the lower the lattitude, the better the attitude!
Love sea stars comment about 'the lower the lattitude, the better the attitude'. After all this snow crap.. I'm thinking a lower lattitude sounds quite NICE!
That's a whole lot of snow. What a great neighbor kid you have! Most kids wouldn't do all that for $20.
I wish I could say I don't remember the Blizzard of '78. Even though I was just a wee youngin' at the time, I remember it. I guess I could claim, as Sea Star did, I wasn't born yet. Think that would fly?
Be safe tomorrow!
My 3 words for all you chicas with all that snow "time to move"
see ya soon!!
M
Is that SUNSHINE in these photos? Praise God. Gotta second TBG on this one, it might be time to move-ha!
Okay, I'll remind you....and you'll hate me for it....LOL!
OMG! Now I remember why I live in Florida.
I remember the Blizzard of 78 but I remember it being in Feb.
Actually I think it was Feb. 6th.
Could there have been 2 Blizzards of 78?
When will it end? I'm SO freaking sick of the snow already...
Dude! that is off the hook. I've been a little out of touch & am amazed by all of the SNOW going on outside of California. Whoa.
Yeah, this has been a very messy winter. Now they moved Easter up to March 23rd and Eli will be hunting Easter eggs in a snowsuit!
Thanks for your comment on my blog and the link ... no, I'd never read Taegan's birthday story before. I about busted a gut laughing. I almost peed my pants, too. That is one of the funniest things I've ever read. Having just lived through a much sanitized version of that ... I could completely visualize the entire thing. I'm still brushing away the tears. Hysterical!!!!
