Unexpected Porch Re-design

I made the mistake of clicking on a Home-Depot link while I was on the Rate-My-Space page the other day. Speaking of... I love that site! There are tons of photos submitted by real people of their own decorating jobs. It's interesting to see other ideas and tastes. I check it out often to see what people are doing with their nurseries... especially since I'm in the process of doing mine.

Well, by "in the process" I mean I started painting and that's as far as I've gotten. Summer has been busy.... and we all know how I procrastinate. LOL!

Okay... where was I? I'm jumping topics. Sorry. Home-Depot link. That's what I started talking about. So I click on it and absolutely ~fall in love~ with a patio chair.

Now ... am I in the market for a patio chair? No. Do I need a patio chair? No. Should I spend the money since I just shelled out $750 bucks to update my I-600a again? Probably not.

But have you ever just fallen in love with a piece of furniture that spoke to you so deeply that you decided you should find a place for it? I've never really done that. I've always had a space to fill in my house and then shopped for a particular piece for it. Not find a piece and then find a space. Different concept for me.

But I finally figured out a place for the patio chair I was drooling over. My porch swing is broken and has been for awhile. I've actually been looking for a replacement. I decided to get rid of it and buy 2 of these patio chairs for that space. There's plenty of room cuz the swing actually sits about 3 feet from the end of the porch.I think the deep cushy chairs will get a lot more use than the swing does. I can already see myself curled up reading a book. Or sipping a glass of wine. I can't wait until they get here!!

And guess what? The chairs are BLUE!! What?? I know.... crazy, huh! They even come in a lime green color. Which y'all know is my fave shade. Right behind hot pink, of course. But I actually like the chair much better in this turquoise blue. And the frame is black. Just freakin' love it!!And they'll go better with my gray siding and gray/blue/black stone on the front porch. I just hope I'm as happy with the chairs in real life. Cuz I totally just bought them online and had them shipped only relying on the photo. Whatcha think? Can you picture them tucked back on that end where the porch swing is now?I'm suddenly redesigning my entire front porch around these chairs! Now I'm shopping for an outdoor rug. I'm thinking black and white. I originally was looking at blue rugs but decided against that. Blue is too hard to match. There are way too many shades. And since I'm shopping online and relying on photos... better stick with black. I like this one. But I'm loving this one! Which just figures because it's about $200 more. Anyone care to register an opinion? Mom... you out there? Then I decided I need to replace my pink and green flowery house number tiles. Cuz we're moving into a new blue phase on the front porch, right? Help me rationalize, people! I found these on Etsy. Gorgeous, no?
So just a word of warning. Don't ever just innocently click on a Home-Depot sales link that pops up on the web. They have eerie mind controlling powers or something and before you know it you'll be buying stuff and re-decorating. What happened to my normally frugal self? I've think I've lost it....

No wonder you were inspired by those amazing chairs! They look like so much fun - and what a great thing to see/enjoy when you first approach your home! Love the first rug - wouldn't want anything too splashy to take away from those amazing chairs!

Total book reading, meditating, margarita sipping, porch swinging spot! Lucky duck.

First, thank you for shopping at HD. It puts food on our table! LOL!!!!

Secondly, I have seen those chairs! They are so fun and I really admired them when I saw them. I think they are going to look fab on your porch!!!

Love both rugs, but my eye keeps going to the second one.

I like the first rug, but it looks brown to me? If the chairs have a black frame, then I would go with rug #2. If #1 is indeed black....I'd go with rug #1. LOVE those chairs!

You are quite the project lady, aren't you?

I love it all! The chairs (amazing), the tile numbers (beautiful) and the rugs. I think I like the second one better. It is kind of Asian looking to me.

Now I am off to check out the link (or maybe I should stay away from it!)...

LOVE the chairs!!! I'm amazed your going out of your pink comfort zone!!

I LOVE the 2nd rug... love love love it... BUT... I think the bold white design of it along with the turquoise and black chairs would be too much. I think the more muted design of the first rug would not compete with the chairs. just my 2cents...

Have fun decorating...

Oh and I love the new house # sign.. perfect shades of color!

I like both rugs...but I would go for with the first one.

The chairs are awesome it will be the perfect place for you to watch the swat team on your street:)

Are you worried that someone will steal you chairs??

Personally.. I like the first one with the tiles/numbers (which is awesome btw) However, the second rug does look a little asian.. like cherry blossom flowers or something and it's a nice touch.. so either would be GREAT..
Love the chair to!!

I like the second rug. It looks more "outdoorsy" to me. I think it will look great with the turqoise chairs.

Losing yourself in fun luxury you are! Oh, I'm so jealous of your porch and it's going to look even more gorgeous all updated! Enjoy!! Can't wait to see it all together.

Welcome to the WONDERFUL world of BLUE!!!! LOL

I love the chair. How cozy, comfy does that look!!

I LOVE the second rug, but I think it would be too much with that chair. It would be perfect with the rockers you have there now. It would be the focal point. I think with the chair and the second rug, they would both be fighting for focal point status. :o)

JMHO.
Good Luck!

Blue??? Are you feeling well??? No pink?? No green?? :-)

The chairs are really cool and definitely eye poppin!!

As for the rugs, I prefer the 2nd one, but that's just my taste. Wish I had a room to put it in.

I want you to share which Etsy seller you found that makes the mosaic house numbers. I LOVE THAT!!!

Can't wait to see the blue front porch.

Love the chairs and the new mosaic tiles. I prefer Rug #1. It's classic and won't detract from any other decorations you may include. Also, the white on 2 is kinda large, so with Griffy's muddy paws and traffic, cleaning those big white spots might be more difficult.

I love the chairs! And the numbers!! So very lovely! And with the rug, I LOVE the black and white idea, but I'd go with the one that shows less white, because you know it will get muddy eventually and it would be a shame to spend $200 more on a rug that will show the mud more quickly-but it is super beautiful! Both will be amazing.

I like the first one better. Actually loves it! Really like what you are looking to do. :)

LOVE IT!! I have never heard of that site before (Rate my Space)...I ended up spending a good deal of time there today. ;)

I LOVE the second rug, but it is a VERY bold statement. I don't know if the space is big enough to pull that off. I vote for the first rug for that reason.

Love the second rug. Although my frugal mind says #1. And I have no idea about focal points, so I say #2.

The first rug for sure. You will see every little speck of dirt on a black rug. It will always look dirty.
