TV Talk

I need to get the va-jay-jay video down the page a bit. So I need a new topic. LOL! How about just some mindless chit chat. I have a question for all you mothers-of-small-children out there. Do you still get to watch TV? Cuz I may have to re-think this adoption if I have to give up my favorite shows.

Y'all know I'm just kidding, right?

I have a DVR. So I'm sure I'll figure out a way to multitask the motherhood thing while still satisfying my addiction to the boob tube. Let's hope anyway. Since I have so much free time on my hands at the present .... ya know, since I'm still waiting on a kid 32 months later and all...... there's no reason to feel guilt over my TV habits just yet.

Two of my most favorite-est shows start up again this week. First up is Survivor*, with a new season debuting tomorrow night. Can-Not-Wait! I love this show. And a new season of The Amazing*Race starts Sunday night. So excited!! Is it pathetic that after age 35 my idea of a great night is curling up on the couch in my jammies with my fave TV shows?

Anyhoo. Anybody watching *AI*? And if you don't know the show by it's initials only nickname then you just lost major cool points. Warning.... spoilers ahead. I just watched tonight's episode. So if you have it DVR'd ... turn back now cuz I'm about to ruin it for ya.

My favorite is Danny. The one who lost his wife. That story pulled at my heart strings. He has a beautiful voice and a great cool vibe kind of stage presence. I dig him. He's my early predictor for the season winner. We shall see. Anyone else think he has a resemblance to Robert Downey, Jr? Or is it just me? Maybe it's those glasses? I was really really sad to see his BFF go tonight. I think he deserved a spot. Especially after they let in some of the other more mediocre talent. Norman-Gentle.... or whoever he is? I'm just saying....

I also like the dueling piano player that did "Georgia" last night. Sorry, guy. I don't know your name yet. But I like ya. And the oil rigger. He has a surprisingly soulful voice. Anoop... another that I like.

I think the boys have the most talent this year. I see no real stand outs with the females yet. Except maybe my fave girl, Lil Rounds. Fabulous. Amazing. She reminds me of Fantasia.

My not favorite chick is the hyena laughing, overly dramatic, uber annoying Tatiana. She's like fingernails on a chalkboard for me. I sense some mental health issues under the surface on this one. But that drama makes for good TV. Apparently, the judges think so cuz they actually put her through. So now America gets to vote on her. She'll never win. Her personality completely overshadows her talent.

It'll be interesting to see how this season plays out. Just remember....
I called Danny-Gokey. :)

Put the kidlet to bed at a decent hour and there is plenty of time to watch TV. Nothing I watch starts before 8 or 9 and bedtime is 8 so I'm good to go. I can even fit some dishes washing/kitchen cleaning in there most days...

I cannot believe they let Jamar go. I am truly annoyed. And embarrassed that I AM so annoyed.

Even more annoying? Tatiana.

Yes, you can still watch your T.V.! We do! We watch it with her and give her something to play with or wait til she goes to bed! Karlee is pretty wasy going, so I guess we are lucky! But if they start cussing, we scratch it til she's sleeping! As long as you have DVR honey, you can find the time to watch.....but your laundry might stack up! I know mine does!

Lost my cool points. I had no idea what you were talking about until you mentioned singing.

Yes you can still watch TV - especially if you are no hurry to do the dishes or laundry :) Mind you, having to watch toddler TV too much may erode your will to live!

I call Danny, too! I cried when I saw his first audition. There's something about him that's so magnetic, you just want good things for him. And I agree about Tatiana--they only put her through for the ratings. She's a hot mess!

I like Danny too. He's great. Tatiana? Freak show.

I can't believe I forgot to tape it tonight. I am such a dork. Sigh.

Anyway, thanks for the heads-up about AR. I hate NO IDEA it was starting on Sunday! WOO HOO! My FAVOURITE show! I also watch Survivor. I need to DVR these things. Then I won't forget. Like AI tonight. ARG.

I said the exact same thing about Danny to my husband tonight! I think he is in it to win it.

I can. not. stand. Tatiana. She bugs.

You know what's funny? I was actually watching AI tonight when I flipped open my laptop and I read what you wrote literally 2 minutes before they told Tatiana she made it through, so you totally spoiled it for me. I guess I shouls have listened to you when you warned us about the spoiler. LOL.

I am really bugged that she made it through. Blech.

The only reason they put Tatiana through was for ratings - it's so transparent. She's definitely more than a little whack-a-doo, and that's my official opinion as a...psychiatrist's secretary. ;)

Danny is my favourite right now.

OMG! Do you know that I could have written this post? We have the exact same favs. I love Danny! I also am cheering for the Oil Rigger. Last night I told my husband that Tatiana needs to GO ASAP. She annoys the heck out of me!

PS: Yes you can still watch TV.

Girl...get outta my head! Those are my Faves-Not to be Missed-Watched Live.

Even hubs can not stand Tatiana. She will not get far...hopefully!

I am sure that the DVR will become your best friend!!

My fav is the Amazing Race - mainly because you get kicked out because you arrived last and not because someone didn't like you.

I'm seriously into AI, but my dish got knocked down in the storm last night. and we had no power. bummer. thanks for the recap.
I've got a honkin' 55 inch tv that mostly plays Dora, Angelina, and other kid favorites. Kate does not know how good she has it....

I really don't watch as much tv as I used to. The early years it was always a choice- sleep or tv. Many times I picked sleep. Then after being a Mom, some of those violent shows (CSI, etc) just gave me nightmares. I know you won't have that issue!

I'd say I watch 5 hours of tv a week now, I used to watch more like 15.

It's all what you want, I guess!

I don't watch Surviv0r or Amazing R@ce, but I am a HUGE A.I. fan.
My very favorite from his VERY FIRST audition was Danny - fell in love with him instantaneously - and not because of his (very sad) story, but because I LOVE his smokey voice.
I say he will take it all the way. And yes, I agree, he looks like R.D. Jr.
My second fav is the blond guy - the Cole Miner. LOVE HIM. ( I also dig the (bald) Welder, but I like the Miner a litter more)
I must admit - I love Norman - he seriously cracks me up - I find him so entertaining. Do I think he has even the smallest chance of winning, or even coming close - no. But I think he is just so darn funny.
I can't stand the guy with all the face piercing - the one who always wears headbands. I swear - he is so emotional - always crying, I just want to give him a Prozac and smack him around a bit.
And LORD HAVE MERCY - the TOTALLY mental Tatiana??!!! How in the world did she make it through??? Not only do I NOT think she is a good singer, but she seriously has mental problems. I remember at her very first audition - where she was wearing that hideous skin tight dress that puffed out on the bottom - thinking she was a basket case. And then she kept saying that she was Puerto Rician, and I was like, "oh Lord - she's giving us a BAD name!!"
OK, so that is my run-down.
We'll talk more about it next week!!!!

Pug Mama said...

is he a coal miner or a oil rigger?
Don't know.
Whatever - I mean the blond guy who had the sing off with the bald guy. and I meant to say "a LITTLE more"
not "a LITTER more"
and I meant coal, not cole.
geez.
need another cup of coffee.....

DUDE! I am ALL ABOUT DANNY GOKEY!!! He's definitely the front runner for me right now.

But roughneck guy has his charms too.

I am a total freak for AI. Have avoided the other two you mentioned because I don't have time to even keep up with AI but somehow I'm gonna.

LOL.. love the post but love PUGMammas comments too! I totally agree with everything she said so I'll just be lame and say "ditto, pugmamma". :0)

As far as TV time. we totally DVR everything we want to watch and start at 9pm when we put Maddy to bed. This would be the reason why I'm not blogging much lately. I can't blog when she is up and right now, with all the good shows on, I can't find the time to blog when she goes to bed because I'm playing CATCH UP!.. UGH! :0)

Yep, I thought the same thing about Danny, almost mentioned it to DH. I don't think it's the glasses though.
Can not stand Tatiana. Thought it was funny how Simon made it clear it was not his choice.
Or the gay head band guy! Not that I'm guy bashing, he is just wierd.
Don't like Norman, DH loves him.
Should be an interesting season, but I think you're right, Danny should come very close if he does not win!

We don't have a DVR, TV is on but it's normally either Sprout or Nick Jr. Get ready if you don't know these channels you will soon become intimately familiar with them.

Kelsey at 3.5 is funny because now she is "scared" of everything that isn't her TV shows. heh.

She isn't the best sleeper either because most nights it's about 9 or later when she falls asleep.

This is why I love my blogs. I'm right next to her, so I can't read a book or magazine, but I can have my computer on and either work or read/write blogs...

Thanks for keeping me updated the other night! I still can't believe it didn't show here.

I really like Danny. I sure wish that Tatiana chick would get booted, but I guess she is good for ratings.

I think we are in for a rude awakening when the kiddos come home. It will be more than just our tv time that is changed. I am more worried about my sleep time. I like sleep. I need sleep. I'm a bear when I don't have sleep. Will the little ones go along with that? :o)

kitchu said...

Danny already is SIGNED (you know what I mean, will be- he's got raw, real talent and is my fave too). I hope he doesn't win so he's not locked in to the whole AI contract thing- I want him on a better label :O)

kitchu said...

ps. his friend Jamar should have gone through- I can't believe some of the NON talent that got through and he didn't.

My TV watching has dropped off a lot. After watching Survivor since day 1, I have lost interest. Those Amazing Race still catches my attention. And I never miss LOST. I use TIVO and catch up when I can.

I am a huge reality TV fanatic!!! Amazing Race was GREAT. The mother/son that came in 1st just brought me to tears. The first thing, Phil's signing that they were team # 1, then the son's emotional talk about deaf people being able to do things that hearing people do!! My parents are both deaf (mom is deceased) and it just hit the heart!! We DVR everything and then watch it later, I am sure Darci will be rocked to sleep in the living room while mom watches recorded TV.
