500 ** update

I just realized I was stuck at 499 posts. So this makes the 500th! You'd think with blogging since summer of 2006, I'd be further along. But nope. Just at 500. I guess that's because I've been such a blog slacker over the last 3 years.

And to add to that... I haven't been in the mood to blog here lately at all. I have too many things weighing heavy on me right now. A family member with a serious health problem, an immense amount of job stress, the devastation that my adoption might be over (but after many sleepless nights, back and forth debate with my agency, and maybe buying myself an ulcer with the worrying... that issue has been resolved and all is okay), surgery in 3 weeks (which is freaking me out so bad the doctor has to sedate me.... to be able to sedate me), and a major life change that I certainly never predicted for my future.

Sorry to be so cryptic but I just don't even have the mental energy to explain it all. So bear with me as I work through as much of this as I can.... and I'll be back.

To bring a little positivity to this downer post and to somehow mark the big 500 number, I've decided to give something away. I've seen other people do it and it seems like a fun distraction that I could use right about now. What am I giving away? Well, I don't know yet. I haven't thought that far ahead with this idea. LOL! But I can guarantee it'll be something very cool. A mystery surprise. If you're interested in winning, just leave a comment on this post. If you don't have a blog for me to track back to, make sure you leave your email address. Maybe this will encourage some of those lurkers to pop out and say hello, too. I'll draw a name on Weds Oct 28th and post the winner and what the prize is the next day. Good luck!

** I figured out what the mystery prize is gonna be. It's still a secret... but I'll tell you that it's a brand new piece of jewelry. What girl doesn't like jewelry, right? And I'll also include something baby related if you have one, are waiting for one, or just want something to re-gift down the road. LOL!

Would love to win a mystery prize!

Sorry you are carrying a such heavy load in so many areas lately. Will send positive thoughts your way. After reading your blog for three years I understand your fears about the surgery and will be thinking of you during that time.

Sorry you are dealing with so much stress right now. Stress is NOT fun. Hope your surgery goes well (and I'm sure it will). Best wishes to your family member and I hope you are able to find some peace at work.

Take care!
I'd love to win a surprise too!

Still here and reading when you post. Sorry you are in a hard spot. Hope all will come out well in the end. My thoughts are with you.

Love the giveaway thing, so count me in.

Not delurking or interested in the prize, but holy crap girl! No wonder you've been quiet on the bloggy front. So glad your adoption is alright. Last spring our agency sent us a spreadsheet with a much later (and incorrect) LID than 5-31-06. I freaked for the entire 24 hours until it was straightened out, and my non-adopting friends just couldn't understand my devastation. Your surgery will be great because really, what would be the odds of anything like your last debacle happening again? Don't know what your life changes entail, but sometimes the things we haven't always planned (like adoption for example) turn out to be the best things in life. Sending good thoughts to your sick family member. Hang in there!

I'm so sorry you have so much on your plate right now. Thinking of you and wishing you good luck with your surgery!

I echo what Lisa just said (Briana's Mom) wow, Krista, you are going through major life stressors right now. I know you are a very smart, capable woman and have a great support system to lean on. But if you ever need another voice...just drop me a line...I've been through everything you just mentioned (except for the potential adoption derail) and can lend an empathetic ear.

p.s. jewelry? Count me in! Thanks for the giveaway on your 500th post!

Make sure you let us know the exact day of your surgery, so we can send up lots of prayers and good thoughts for ya. =)

Happy 500th! I know I've commented before at some point, but I'm pretty much a lurker mostly. However, I've read your blog for at least 2 years (since I know you hooked me up with contact info for a Danish reader of yours in spring 2007 before I went to Denmark that fall). You are a fantastic person and I can't wait to read about the day you get your referral and then your little one!!! =)

Better to reach me by email than anything else: abbyindenmark@gmail.com

I went to that seminar today and bought the whole damn set of DVD's - hopefully I can copy them for you. It was awesome but I cried my eyes out.

Sending margarita thoughts your way!

Glad to hear that things are again OK on the adoption front and my left boob says there is a 100% chance that the surgery will go fantastically (if you didn't get that reference, you need to watch Mean Girls... 'cause nothing eases stress like watching people get hit by bus!)

A giveaway! Always fun! Prayers for your surgery and everything else going on.

I am sorry you are having so much stress. Wishing you well on the surgery. I know the wait stinks, but after a 3 year wait they matched me with a little girl who looks so much like me people comment on it all the time. The perfect baby for you is out there. It is just so hard to wait.

Sam said...

Too bad you told us what the prize was! I thought maybe it was a margarita machine, but then I KNEW you would never part with that! Hope things get better for you really soon!!! HUGS!

BTW, thanks for the prayers for Heather's hubby.

Anonymous - thanks for the support. Seriously.

I removed it though. Mostly because I don't know who you are since you posted it anon. And also because I've decided at this point to keep it off the blog. There's an e-mail link in my sidebar if you want to chat. I welcome it. Cuz I think you and I both know what you were talking about.

Stress definitely sucks and I'm sorry you have so much of it. Surgery is never fun and should never be taken lightly no matter how minor. Hoping that the one scheduled 3 weeks from now goes smoothly.

sucks about the surgery and the needing to be sedated to be sedated but I'd be right there too.. I get all worked up and can't relax.
